It's already 6 in the morning and I decided to have rose water. The other day I went to the Chinese medicine shop to get "ching sam fo" (a type of herbal tea) and a jar full of dried red rose buds caught my eyes. So out of curiosity, I asked the shop owner about the benefit of consuming rose. He said that it can reduced stress and relieve anxiety. Besides, the owner also said it helps relieve the eyes and helps in getting good night sleep. So, finals are in 2 weeks' time and I need something that could help me relaxed. Therefore, I bought a packet.
Dried Rose Buds.
Close up.
The preparation is easy. Just immerse the dried rose buds in hot water for 10 minutes or more and you can have a nice rose water.
The buds. It looks like maggots though.
The colour is like normal tea.
Though it had no taste, but once you sip it, the fragrance of rose will stay in your mouth!
Out of curiosity again, I decided to Google for the benefits of consuming rose water and here's what I got:
1. Easy a heavy/troubled digestion process.
2. Rose water is consider a mild astringent. Hence, it a good form of toner as it helps to firm and tone the skin as well as moisturises it.
3. Natural rose water for drinking has a unique scent that empowers the mind and assists in decision making and completion of projects.
4. The rose water is increasingly used in treatments for conditions of stress: nervous tension, peptic ulcers, heart disease, and others.
Since there's so much benefits and dried rose buds ain't expensive and have beauty properties (main reason), I'm going to have a cup of rose water everyday.
Oh ya, the owner of the medicine shop also said adding boxthorn fruits will helps in strengthening your eye sights. Great!
So guys, don't mixed up the "sirap" water and rose water. sirap is made of mixture of rose water, syrup and colouring. So, it's not so healthy.
