First day of CNY: Woke up and greet everyone in the household good luck phrases. I've minimise the phrase of "Kiong Hee Huat Zai" (Wish you prosperous) and use a lot of "Sin Teh Kin Hong" (Wish you in good health always). I'm a Hokkien so my phrases are in in Hokkien too! :) This year, I opt for a cheongsam. A bargain buy from the web, it's only RM30!
After eating breakfast at home, we went out to visit my maternal relatives. First stop, my maternal grandma house. Though grandma had passed way for 8 years, fond memories still coming back to me. It's the sweet memories of childhood. :) Then, we went to my mum's siblings houses. Came back to home at around noon time, and have a rest.
CNY is getting more quite as years passed by. When paternal grandma still around, CNY is much more merrier; cousins coming back and everyone had the most happy get together gathering of the year. Well, guess everyone had grown up and lead their own life.
It was also Valentine day that day. 5 and I had a very simple Valentine's Day. We went to McD, he had an Oreo and I had a vanilla sundae. Simple, yet sweet. :)
Second day of CNY: Relatives coming back to TI. It was suppose to a merry situation but somehow unhappy stuff happen. Feuds happens at the paternal side since paternal grandma passed away 5 years ago. I do not know why, but I guess status and wealth do have something to do with that. Somehow, someone managed to fix the condition.
At night, went to YL's house to had our annual "meeting". Well, we'd established this culture since 3 years ago. A get together to discuss what we'd done all year long, our future planning and how we missed each other. :) Since last year, we had done some "movie" production in which we made fun of ourselves. :)Click here for 2009 Ip Man version of ours and for our 2010 production "Tangkap Basah".
Third day of CNY: Had dim sum with third aunty and family and fifth uncle at dad's favourite dim sum restaurant. The restaurant was jam packed with people and mum had to become the"waitress". She says if you want to have your dim sum fast, do self service instead waiting for others to serve you. Well, we do get discounts for mum's effort and it's CNY! Can get discount is really rare during seasonal time!
Night time, went to YL house again. We seems can't chat enough. Everytime meet also got a lot to talk about. And they say my "foul words scolding ability" had increased. =.= Well, everytime I meet up with them, vulgars words will come out from my mouth and it's only when I see them. It's not with the intention of scolding, it's somehow a way we communicate.
Fourth day of CNY: Youngest aunt treated everyone to a lunch at Sechuan seafood restaurant. Didn't do much thing that day.
Fifth day of CNY: Didn't remember much what I'd done that day but I know I had so much fun at YL house with our friends.
Sixth day of CNY: Went for a gathering at Poh Loong restaurant. Simple dinner with my lovely mates. :)
Seventh and Eighth day of CNY: Busy helping mum to do preparation for the Ninth day celebration, the Jade Emperor Birthday.
"Huat Kuih".
"Ang Ku".
A sticky sweet rice thing.
Big, fat "Mi Ku".
Ninth day of CNY: Jade Emperor's Birthday celebration. Will do another post for this.
